Other than the huge 2 or 3 story windows to look out of, there is not much else to do. Sun glare may make the western views a challenge, but there is nothing they can do about that. The views are incredible, and what everyone is there for. At one point during our 30-minute visit, we were the only ones up there! We were there just after 3:00 pm on a quiet Thursday before they closed at 4:00 pm. After checking our IDs, and an easy metal detector scan, we were in the elevator and up to the 31st floor. It is steps from the exit of the Rosslyn metro station, which is very convenient to get to. This is a wonderful staple in the Rosslyn neighborhood for good eats and chill vibes. We stopped by here after visiting Arlington National Cemetary. I’d recommend it for a post-work happy hour or a casual sit-down lunch or dinner with family or friends. Overall, Open Road offered an excellent selection of classic American dishes, cocktails, and beers. Salt is located right underneath Open Road, and you can access it by going down the stairs inside the restaurant. They offer upscale hand-crafted cocktails and small bites. If you’re seeking an additional nightcap after your meal, I highly recommend checking out Salt, Open Road’s sister bar and speakeasy. No dinner is complete without dessert, so we ordered the hot fudge ice cream cake! It was so delectable with house-made chocolate cake, vanilla bean ice cream, hot fudge, and chocolate peels on top. Since Open Road offers a wide selection of beers in both draft and bottles, we both got craft draft beers to enjoy with our meals. It was made with penne pasta, andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, diced tomatoes, scallions, chipotle cream sauce, and Parmigiano Reggiano. My dining partner got the jambalaya, which was a unique take on the classic southern dish. The sweet potato fries were an amazing side. The veggies burger was exceptionally good, tasted fresh, and was truly filling. Pictured: Jambalayaįor our main course, I ordered the veggie burger, which was a house made patty, sunflower seeds, hummus, cucumber, red onion, pickled beets, and sliced avocado served on a brioche bun with sweet potato fries. They also enjoyed their cocktail and thought it was very flavorful and fun. My dining partner got the Bourbon Smash, which was bourbon, bitters, lemon, and mint. It was so delicious! I would absolutely order this drink again it was ideal for the start of the summer season. I ordered the Basil & Blue, which was gin, blueberries, ginger, lemon, and basil. The service was also quick despite the restaurant being quite full both inside and outside on the patio. Both the hostess and our waitress were so kind and friendly. Inside, the restaurant features Americana decor and has a cool motorcycle on display to play into the open road theme of the restaurant. During my visit, I sat inside, but when I return, I’ll definitely be checking out their happy hour on the patio! It’s a large space with plenty of tables to enjoy your meal outside.
